Quail confusion

I thught quail were only bred to hunt until Isaw this forum and then looked up quail eggs--and was very surprised they're good or you.

But , are the different breeds for different things? Are some for hnting, some for eggs, and some for meat, or are they all 'multi-pupose'?

All of the above.

You can eat the meat and eggs from all quail, however Bobwhites are generally the ones used for hunting. Many folks keep quail for breeding, selling the eggs, consumption, the entertainment of them and their colors as well.
