We gice our coturnix the leftover seeds from my Conure. They love it.

I've heard other say a quail does a good job at cleaning to bottom of
a parrot cage.

As for the others that were asking about iding their BQ chicks...on www.zebrafinch.com you'll find a chick ID part where you can actaully compair your chicks to the breeders picks. Helped me id most of my chicks...and theones i didnt know about, i posted on buttonquailsusa on yahoo and got a prompt answer.

The one chick from the ID question is deffinatly a blue faced, the other looks like a redbreasted (the one with yellow black and red in it). And if orget what the other one was...but you said a silvery yellow...probaly a "silver" i have a silver male.

I just went to look at why..
OMG, I am so sorry for your loss of the babys!
I dont have very many eggs right now, but I can send you the few I do have if you want to try to incubate them. The weather has been pretty good lately and should be for the next few days anyway.
Well, we can try if you like.

Hopefully your mom is right about the red. They were indoors in a clean
brooder with fresh pine. They shouldn't have cocci. I've had my chickens
poop some blood when I was feeding them an old back of sunflower
seeds and not giving them enough grit. I've noticed red in my Coturnix
once or twice that never developed into a problem.
