Quail Escape! HELP!

I usually clean my Quails cage out every 2-3 nights. We usually bring their cage in at night because it can get quiet cold here. I usually let them run around in the garage while i clean the cage give them fresh food water ect. and someone left the garage door open slightly. One of my Quails got out.
I told my friend to go get one of my quails who run under to garage door. so they deiced the close to garage door and went out the front door. She went near him and he flew across the street and apparently hit the outside of someones house. I put all the quails back in the cage.
By the time i got outside and ran across the street he was gone. i had no clue where he was.
He's a button quail so he's very small. i searched for about 3 hours, i knocked on doors to ask if i could check in their yards, looked in bushes. everything. i don't know what to do. its now dark and I'm worried.

I've had a button escape a couple of times. One time it flew over the roof of the house and hid in some bushes in the garden. Luckily I saw where he flew over the roof so I had a pretty good idea of where to find him and I caught him again.
The other time, I don't even remember how the bird got out but I remember looking for a bird I didn't find. It can be just about impossible to find them if you don't manage it right away.
If I were you, I'd wait for the first light tomorrow and take a walk with a dog (on a leash) in the area where he was last seen. The dog might hear/smell him - it stands a much better chance than you do.
You could also try placing his friends in separate cages where you think he might be. Being alone, they might start calling and that could make him call back, giving you a clue about his location. If you can tape their call and walk around playing the tape, that might work as well.
I haven't tried either of these methods, but I think they are likely your best chances.

Sorry to hear this... I hope he doesn't go far, I know quail love company so perhaps the sounds of your remaining birds will lure him back?

Or maybe play a louder recording of girls calling for a male?

I have heard of caged quail (bobwhite I think) calling and attracting wild ones to the outside of their pen, so maybe you'll look out one morning and just see it.

its like trying to find a needle in a haystack. my bobwhites have escaped numerous times and Ive always caught them. sometimes I just let them loose on purpose to play around and then I chase them back. sorry for your loss and...

I had a Japanese quail flush on me and sail up over the fence into the neighbour's. Having many spare males I thought to myself, "oh well" plus it was getting late and I had a hundred things on my 'to do' list and tracking an escapee was not one of them! I was sure a cat would get him plus it's winter where I am. A few days later I walked out to find him in the middle of the backyard. He was hungry but unharmed. Hopefully the sound of your other quail will bring him back.

Feather clipping works pretty good.

Put the other 2 outside in cages away from each other so they'll call. Works with my chickens.
