I was building a new quail fence and cleaning their waters at the same time and realized it was 415 and I had to be somewhere at 430, so I just rushed inside, leaving to coop door open. Return 3 hours later, 3/4 quail gone. Search, find one, chase around the backyard through the fence and into front yard. Catch it after crawling into a holly bush and getting shredded. 2/4 quail in coop. Find another quail in an apple tree. Chase it into neighbors yard, lose sight. Neighbor helps look, don't find it in their yard. Knock on other neighbors, but they don't talk to people, so didn't open the door. Look into their yard w flashlights. Break into yard of house next door, no one lives there as it's for sale, and quail 3/4 is caught. Despite more searching, quail 4 is nowhere to be seen. Went inside for the night, it was dark, and hope he remembers where food and friends are and returns. All could have been avoided if I clipped their wings yesterday instead of being lazy.

Now it is the day after and I haven't found him after more searching in daylight. What are the chances of him surviving the night? Of coming back? Should I put out food? Traps? anyone have a quail escape and return?

Hey im sorry to hear this but good news is Yes i have had them escape and come back looking for the food and their flock. Our place is unfenced so when they escape they can get pretty far. I have two dogs who kill them if they find them and two cats who do the same but Still i have had them come back. Good luck! Sending "go Home Safe" vibes! :fl
