A lot of the long time breeders say not to use it, and when I accidentally got some medicated feed, I noticed that my chick mortality rate was higher than usual.

I’ve had no quail die, just one I had to cull due a suspected neurological issue

They are now eating a flock raiser feed by Purina.

TSC has a Purina game bird starter I use with high protein.

While there are a number of diets people use with their button quail and they can take quite a wide range, as adults. Whatever you do, DON'T forget the grit!!!!!. Without the grit, you will eventually have birds dying for lack of material in their craws to grind the food.
Many will tell you that button quail are NOT poultry. They are and if you want them to live for more than a couple of years then you will have to recognize that.
