They don’t usually go broody. Some will and some won’t, and some literally half ass it haha. My broody will sometimes sit on them and lean over and they aren’t covered, they’re just really flakey at it.

I bought those, but even on well close fitting bands, they kept slipping down over the rear claws.

I'm sorry about your quail. I know what it's like to lose them. I've had two fly away (both king quails), which were both within my first week of owning quail. I've since put more security measures in place. After I lost the first one, I put up lost posters for him. Unfortunately neither of them came back.
