Who raises quail for meat and what kind do you raise? I am looking forward to having quail but I am not sure what kind I should get.

Thanks for the info on how to PROCESS quail but my question was "Who raises quail for meat and what kind do you raise?" I wanted to know what KIND of quail is best for meat.

the best tasting are supposedly bobwhites, but you'll get more meat faster on a coturnix. I raise bobwhites and at the moment am wondering if its really worth the wait.

I am just starting to I have a coupla Bobs right nowI am going to pick up a few more for eggs and meat I like the taste of BW I am going to try raising a few coturnix as well I have never had them it will be something new for me . from everything I read they are quicker to raise thats seem like a good thing.

I raise coturnix for meat. Anything that's fed primarily corn seems to end up tasting like............. chicken

I like them because of the quick turn around on grow out size, quick to sexual maturity, quick to lay eggs, and quick to replace retired layers

Do you want quantity or quality?

quality= bob white

quantity = coturnix

Bobs are definately the better tasting of the 2, but require more time and money invested to get to harvest age.

I know but I thought it would come in handy when you started raising some.
I would choose Bobwhites
