Quail Hatch - Egg Carton Vs Reg method - Amazing results - UPDATE

OK. Quail are not like chickens. When people say popcorn they are not kidding.

We now have had 10 hatch from the right side.

So:
Left side - Egg carton for 16 days - 22 out of 25
Right side - On their sides in the Brinsea tray - 10 of 25

Since I chose not to candle I would say the left side proves Sams eggs are
extremely fertile. That is the best result EVER from shipped eggs.

This experience and experiment are going SO MUCH BETTER than I expected.

We currently have 32 quail and no runts or sickly ones.

i'm going to try it on my quail hatch next week i don't see why not? i wanna see what happens

Nope, you stop turning the last 3 days. He is using the egg carton method for hatching. If you are using it throughout incubation then yes you want to turn the eggs 3-5 times a day if you don't have an automatic turner.

I have an idea!

Since it seems more like the ones in the egg carton are hatching faster, maybe it has something to do with the fact that the eggs are held stable. It's easier to break something that is stable and non-moving than something that moves.

Maybe it is harder and takes longer to break out of an egg the rolls or rocks everytime you peck, than an egg that remains immobile.
