Hmmm.... Miss Prissy said she got 100% on the buttons and coturnix quail eggs I sent her, in fact, I get better hatch rates on shipped quail eggs than chickens. I wonder why that is?

And as randy as the coturnix are, it's hard to believe they'd be less than 100%...

Yeah but your eggs are from Alaska. That's just an unfair advantage.

Nope I think PC had them this way through out incubation. Since with this incubator the whole incubator turns, not just the turner.

thanks,,,,and since mine is 1 of those cheapo's,,,i still turn them in the carton,,,,,,when you do that do you do a "flip" and go back and forth,,,or spin them and keep the air sac on top?
and the carton didnt really have anything to do with the fertility right?,,,,but might have something to do with the 1 partial?
i really think i am gonna do the carton thing since i dont have the turner and their just laying there ,,,, makes me walk round them so careful i cant feel my feet haha

sorry for all the questions,,,just that this has interested me,,hehe ( simple things amuse simple minds)

The turners for the styrofoam incubators all hold the egg up in the same
position the egg cartons do.

Hand turning in a styro bator is suicide. Opening it up every day just makes
it that much harder to stabilize temps and humidity.

I'd cut egg cartons into strips and turn the strips with the pointy part of the egg
always facing down.

I use the 18-egg cartons, slice the bottoms off, and place it in a turner that my husband made for me. It's on a pvc pipe that slides through the cooler (I have MP's chick-o-bators, too) and it just tips from side to side at least 30°s. I don't even have to open the cooler.

Now I'm spoiled, and both my LG and Hova have autoturners...

Sounds good man! Keep us updated with plenty of pics! And sounds like you got a good mix of goldens....I have found every golden I hatch out to be a female....And to get more goldens you will need to cross a Brown Male with a Golden Female.
