hi..i also have an LG and i was told by my friend that i didnt even need to open the bator for turning (using the egg crate method)...she told me to place something like a brick/wood wedge under one side of bator, on the outside...so you are not lifting the egg crate....you are lifting the whole bator..a side at a time......then..for turning...move the brick/wood to the other side of the bator.....so..you dont have to open the bator at all...

Oh well.. wouldn't you still have to open the bator to keep the sponges moist?

I suppose that would work. Then you could use the carton inside. I never thought of turning the whole thing, like Mark said... the water comes out!

well..i was goning to try to use a syringe and a small tube.....and stick the hose through the holes in the top of the bator....where the red plugs go....and just squirt the water onto the sponges...LOL...dont know how it will work...but...

THAT is exactly what I am doing now. Except in a Little Giant ... sigh, but I did just buy a Genesis. I have two books and rotate from side to side and also a large wet sponge in there for humidity. Just have to open once a day or every other to wet it. Reach in and out very quickly .... I just figured since it was my first hatch I wanted to mess with them as little as possible. We'll see

Take a soda bottle and drill a hole in the cap just big enough to slide a long piece clear teflon tubing into it... 1/4" size works. If it's snug enough, you can squeeze the bottle to get the water out, and you can use the vent holes to insert the tube. That's how I add water to my homemades!

I might give it a shot next time...I like the idea of tilting the entire unit without having to open it. With the wire mesh, I have a difficult time stabilizing the eggs when turning them. I also think it'd help with the temp fluctuations that I've experienced.
