Quail House

Finally one egg

Congratulations! I am trying to figure out how to build an affordable aviary for my quail! I bought a large run like this for chickens, and now feel I shouldn't spend that much again for another for the quail. But they have to be separated by a good 20 or 30 feet for biosecurity. So for now, my quailies are in the house in convenient cages for egg production. I am sad though. Your quails look very happy in their outdoor enclosure. What is your climate like?
Have you considered a cattle panel hoop coop? Many people use them for chickens, but their arched wall/ceiling might prevent quail from breaking their necks when they spook. A cattle panel is about 4'by 16ft, arched it's about 6 ft tall and 7 ft wide, so 2 panels would make about an 8 x 7 ft structure. Depending on the soil people use either framing to assemble it, T-posts, or stakes/rebar. Then of course the ends, and cover it with hardware cloth and shade/tarp.
