Quail housing. Am I missing somthing?

whats in that picture of yours is the "woven" 2X4 steel wire, with 1" hexagonal chicken wire around the bottom and ontop.... a full grown coturnix slipped through 1" chicken wire that I had on TOP of my pen the other day. Just saying.

WE CAN SEE THE CHICKEN WIRE. I CAN ALSO SEE OPEN WOVEN WIRE- NEITHER WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO HOLD THEM OR PROTECT THEM FROM MANY PREDATORS THAT THEY WILL SURELY ATTRACT! WE'RE ACCOMPLISHED AT THIS AND TRYING TO ASSIST YOU. ATTEMPTING TO HELP YOU PREVENT AN AVOIDABLE UGLY CIRCUMSTANCE IF YOU WILL.

TO ANSWER THE QUESTION- YES THEY WILL SURVIVE WINTERS THERE IF GIVEN DRY SHELTER FROM THE WIND

sry, i missaid somthing.. I meant to say the picture you posted. it shows the chicken wire behinde the quail. the quail are way to big to fit through that.

Here is my response. You can't go wrong with 19GA. 1/2" hardware cloth!

With quail...It's a 2 way street. You can keep them in something with a paper sack, but you have to keep predators out most of all.

1/2" hardware cloth all around. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

They could fly up and get their necks caught, and they will most likely sleep right next to the wall and a raccoon will reach in and grab them. Just curious, what are you feeding them?
