Coturnix are definitely tough little buggers. We had over a foot of snow dumped on us, followed by another 6 inches just days later. Despite the bitter cold, the quail were out and about in the snow like they couldn't care less about it. They did take advantage of the inside of the coop and it's heat lamp on occasion, but they were running in and out all day. The ones that opted to sleep outside just fluffed out to keep their toes warm and no one ended up with even a hint of frostbite. Now we are up in 70s for daytime temperatures and they are laying eggs like crazy.
