Hello - My quail cage is a small rabbit hutch and in order for me to get it good and clean, I need to remove the quail to a seperate pen 1 time every couple of weeks. Could this move be keeping them from laying? They're about 9 weeks old and I have yet to get a single egg. I have 4 females and 1 male. They seem to be happy and healthy with no issues. For the record, these are celadon coturnix quail.

If they're indoors like that, they are going to need supplemental lighting at least 14 hours of the day.

You might consider getting a couple of shallow storage bins to fill with bedding. Then when you clean, you can just swap them out instead of having to move the birds in and out.

They're outside and get LOTS of sunlight (Texas)
The shallow tubs is an idea I hadn't thought of. I will start looking to see if I might be able to find some that would be compatible - I appreciate the idea!
