Quail passed away.

Put a teaspoon of honey to one quart of water. I'm guessing you have the quart waters. What are you using for bedding? You can use that grape electrolyte packet the chick electrolytes are just a little more powerful.

Your welcome. What kind of bedding are you using? Because there is a disease that chicks can get if you put them on paper shreddings or wood chippings. Their feet turn red and they stop walking and they end up dying you have to give them one layer to 2 of paper towels.

Got the lights!! Yay!

But, I cut an old sheet so I could have several interchangeable pieces for each box. I wash & bleach them & change them 2-4 times a day but I did run some news paper through my shredder & put it under the sheet to make a little nest like dip under where the light is.. Will that still hurt them?

Hub found some electrolyte packs & picked them up on his way to work this evening.. We'll start it in the morning!!

If they are pecking each other it could definitely be a lack of red light or they are lacking in nutrition and trying to get it elsewhere.

I have heard that medicated feed is terrible for quail :O it's always "non medicated, non medicated!" So I would switch any quail on the medicated feed or low protein feed to a proper game bird grower kind and use your red lamp and hopefully that should solve your problems

Also, keep the bigger chicks seperate from the smaller one and the weak one(s) you can try syringe watering and even soak some proper high protein quail feed into a slurry and put a drop on the end of his bill until he swallows (mind his nose).

This TLC could help him bounce back! Who knows, you sound like you've done a lot already :)

Yea I agree with Binki gamebird starter is a must for quail they need the protein. Turkey starter is just as good and it is cheaper to .

The red light seemed to work pretty good.. Once I put it in they slept for like 6 hours & got up to eat & drink twice!!

Well, this morning the 2nd quail that was put in with wobbly passed.. Then another in the "good" group couldn't stand.. He just lays like he's nesting with his feathers out & he too went in the "injured" brooder.. Hubs did find some game bird feed last night (switched this morning) & some probiotics & electrolyte packets (switched this morning).. So I think I've done everything I possibly can.. Wobbly looked as if it's eyes were mattered shut this morning but he was walking a little.. Then he started flipping again.. I checked on him a little while later & he had apparently gotten in his waterer & flipped around (despite having marbles in it) & got soaked.. In a way I wish he'd hurry & pass.. Poor fella is suffering..

The pheasant that's in the "injured" bin looks much better but I'm afraid to put him with the other two in case he isn't healthy... He was wobbly some again yesterday evening where he'd flop onto his back & stay & sleep.. So I don't know.. I'm running out of things to try!!

I did remove all the news paper shreddings & just put down clean sheets.. I sure hope that didnt hurt them.. Also, that Sulmet that a friend had given us was suppose to eliminate some illnesses & they use it for cattle, chickens, sheep & had used it with quail/pheasants in the past.. I just wonder if it was any good?? They said it was out of date but fine.. Out of date though could mean weeks, months or was it dadgum years?? Ughhhh I babied these eggs so long then now these hatchlings that it's consuming every spare second I've had for over a month!! I just feel hopeless!! I read something about the leg disease, was it on this thread??
