We keep ours in a couple of storage sheds the pens are about three foot by five foot with half being inside and half outside, the inside has a plywood floor with about three inches of beach sand and the outside has a wire floor. Not the best pictures but you can see the general idea.

We keep ours in trios one male and two hens but pairs will do fine as well

I think a lot of people that have 'breeders' do keep them in pairs, but a group of quail is called a 'covey'
