Quail stuck with leg out?

This dude has had his leg hanging out for almost 3 hours and seems to be having trouble getting out. Should I help him out? Or do you think it'll be ok? Feel kinda bad for the little dude.

95% of the time, I think, if they can't get out of the shell on their own there is a reason why. That reason isn't going to change at this point in the game. It's either going to be ok if you help it out or it's not. Just know that it may be deformed and need to be put out of it's misery. It maybe just fine.

So I'm familiar with dispatching fully grown quail, but what is a human way when they are little?
 
FWIW, I've only had one that survived being "helped." The cap was stuck to the top of her head, but I helped the rest of the bird out. It ran around for 2-3 days with a special hat.
