"Quail Thread-Hatching, Mutations, and everything quail related!!!"

Ugh!! I left the eggs that were due to hatch this past fri or sat and that are now on day 21 or 22, with increased humidity and have had nothing. Then get home this evening from work and one egg had completely zipped almost around the entire egg and died

I never had problems w chicken eggs and I just can't hatch these quail for nothing! I'm leaving them be (of course removed the dead one) especially since my next batch is due to hatch this weekend...gosh I hope I get something!!

ANY UPDATES:celebrate

I have not hatched any quail out of either set I had in the bator! :-( I had the last set due to hatch this past fri/sat and nothing. Humidity has been about 70 and I had not touched the bator. I also got another incubator and took the chicken eggs out. I took one of the quail eggs out yesterday to see and chick was alive and actually looked small and not ready to come out. So, I'm leaving them alone a few days longer. Not a good update at all

Thanks!!
They are a little dirty right now- the white ones have a few black spots on them. Are the others "Wild Color" Pharaoh, or what? I have mostly those, but the Rosettas I have, that you identified & now these little ones:)
Do you know how to sex the A&Ms?

Crowing. Foaming. Once they are mature u can eatch them for mating behavior. During mating season summer as we call it. The male will be red and swollen and have foam.

I have hatched quail twice now. I am totally enjoying my quail.

My first quail hatched March 24th & 25th. I kept 8 hens & 1 cock. The first egg was laid from those hens today at only 5 weeks & 2 days old! I figured they'd be 9 weeks before I got any eggs! Happy Dance!

I weighed some of my Jumbo Brown Coturnix quail the other day....

Mature Quail: Hens 13.4 oz & 11.3 oz, Cock 10.2 oz
5 Week olld Quail: Hens 8.1 oz & 7.5 oz, Cock 7.3 oz

I sell quail eggs to a professional chef. When he picked up his last order he gave me some of the quail eggs back that he'd pickled. One was a double yolk! I hadn't seen that before!

My quail are all the wild brown color. In each hatch I've gotten one or two white quail with small wild color patches. Apparently a couple of my adult quail carry a recessive white gene.... English White? Texas A&M?

Photo from my most recent hatch...

Excited to find an active quail thread!
