quail water

Does anyone got any ideas on how to keep the quail water warm, i am tired of taking warm water out to then and tired of breaking ice on their water feeder. Please does anyone got any ideas for quail water from freeze in middle of night.

. i got over 4500 quails and i am TIRED OF BREAKING ICE. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH, AND IT'S TOO DARN COLD OUTSIDE.

That is precisely why I stopped raising quail (although I think I will get some in the spring and fill the freezer in the fall).

I didn't have near the numbers you do, and I raised them in cages. It sounds like you have an aviary??? Using large fountains??? I just had the pop-bottle waterers and knew I couldn't make that work in winter, so they all went to the freezer.

If my assumptions are correct (should really post the set-up you have), why not just use a heated base like I do for my large fowl?? If you don't have electricity.... keep doing what you're doing I guess.

i use the heated dog dishes..for everyone in large pens..including the quail......ones in cages..like rabbits water dishes are solid blocks of ice every day..i just take 2 buckets of HOT water out with me..one is for dropping frozen dish into..within seconds they melt enough..to plop out ice..second is for the fresh drinking water..i do use hot water..here it is so cold last night 2 below..days not much warmer..the hot water stays longer without freezing so fast.

I use crocks in the winter and fill them upitwice a day. When I go out to the barn I bring a bucket of hot water, pop there frozen cocks inot the hot water, fill up their feeders, then by that time, the ice has popped up, I refill them with the now warm water, and go about my chores. If there water is empty by the time I leave the varn I top them up, tbut they are usuallyfrozen (read, -not drank) in the morning. Been doing this for three years, never had one die due to not having enough water. Only fill my rabbits water up twice a day also. Same method.
