We have 12 button quails that we put in the incubator 17 days ago and they have not hatched yet. They might not hatch at all i'm not sure what to do here is a picture of them. They have been turned in an automatic incubator about 10 times a day and we stopped turning them.

BTW: There chinese button quails

Hi, I'm no expert but I have just hatched my first batch of chinese quails & they waited until day 19 to think about hatching, half of the batch of 18 have now hatched & there is still more pipping going on. The best advice I was given was to leave them alone & let them do it in their own time. good luck :)

keep your temp up and the humidity as well leave them alone until day 22 or so. if the temp fluctuated or the humidity was not right it may take longer than 16-18 days. Are you sure they are fertile? good luck and have patience.

They started hatching well one of them has but the other one's have not started yet hopefully we will at least get two cause i don't want the one thats hatching now to feel lonely thanx for all the advice.

btw: im pretty sure there fertile because every one else that has bought them have had a 50% to 90% hatching rate.

Curious, looks like you have the eggs on the edge of the incubator instead of the middle. Not sure what kind of incubator you have but some will be cooler on the edge which could slow down your hatch.

i just moved them very carefully into the middle of the incubator and 3 of them moved after i moved them and also the one that has already cracked a hole is trying to get out again here is a picture of the one with a hole

should i help it out of it's shell it's been like this for around 9 hours (only a guess cause i found it in the morning with the hole)

just be patient they are building up strength during hatching that they will need for life. Do you have your brooder all set? sprinkle some food on the floor of the brooder until they find the dish of feed. also be sure to use something they will not slip on like shelf liner in the bottom for a few weeks. do not use newspaper or paper towels. have fun and good luck keep us posted.

we have been using newspaper for all of our other hatches is that alright or should i buy a different material???

Looks to be pipped on the wrong (small end of the egg) end. This is not good but I have seen some hatch from this position.
