You got to love the old time machines. I had 2, 70 chargers and 1, 67 charger. I got a 68 chevelle SS hide'n in the shop...Porsche red, side pipes, chrome ladder bars... Yea, Its a big ol rat, but one real carnival ride... Been there as it is for 15 years... Its been the one the kids talk about beat'in, "when they get their car done" for years...454 bored .060, 10 to 1 compression. muncie four speed, hurst shifter with a big chrome skull shift knob. Even put the big chrome bare foot gas peddle on it like I had in high school.
When I was buildin it, I called Edelbrock's tech line and told them I wanted to run 2, Edelbrock 600's, with progressive linkage, burn "cat pi$$" gas, out run every 5.0 mustang in town, and still be able to drive it up town to get a pack of smokes and not have to launch way from stop signs...
The guy loved it, asked everything from my compression ratio to tire size. He set me up with part no.s for everything. Cam, lifters, carbs, intake, down to the metering rods for the carbs. Plugged it all into his desktop dyno and came out to just over 500 HP, and just under 500 ft lbs of torque.
My bride and I still do a car show and stir up the kids up town once and a while, but it sits way too much.... Bill
