Quarantine birds

Yup! The permethrin spray still has not come though, so have not treated the coop yet.
Things seem to be slow in transit nowadays.
You've dusted the hens though right and no bugs on them - they are at least more comfortable now. Hopefully the spray will arrive soon and you can finish up with that:)

Day 11: Moved two males in with the new flock to be the scapegoats. They are temporary and will be butchered.

Day 12: Butcher day! Going to butcher the two males today. Its also my first time butchering! Honestly, I am excited.
How can you be excited? :sick

Right... Do you have pics of the lovely boys that will no longer be? 😂
Yes. After great debate, we have chosen these two. Nugget because he attacks us and Huffle because I want to keep our male count low.

The killing would be the hardest part for me... I have a couple of roosters I don't really love but yeah... I won't butcher them. And If I can't re-home them then I'll have to keep them:idunno
My sister does the killing. Once dead, we clean them together. I can't imagine slitting a throat...yet. But once dead, I could handle them.

Nobody wants males here. But I only have 27 hens and will be doing a hatch soon. I prioritize females.

Yeah that’s how I am. I can’t stomach it 😩 I even have a hard time rehoming because I feel like I’m letting them down. I always thought I’d be able to rehome the boys easily…but I usually love them the most!! 😩
