Question about chicks for sale at TSC

I was window-shopping at our TSC today and they have a sign up that says you must buy chicks in multiples of 6. We can only have 3 hens, so that wouldn't work for us...it's irrelevant since we're getting ours elsewhere, but I know that's a new rule.

I hope our local mom & pop feed store doesn't have minimum purchase requirements.... well it's not too mom and pop - it's the Tack Shack. I know they have them in other states.

Anyone know about chicks from the Tack Shack?

I bought the minimum (6 chicks) yesterday at TSC but I wasn't required to fill anything out. Nor did they ask me any personal information. They did have a sign up saying that the state of TN now says you have to purchase a minimum of 6 chicks.

Thats okay because I wanted at least 6 anyway.

TSC didnt have any when I was there, but another feed store did, and there is a sign up thats says:

"You MUST live outside the city limits to buy baby chicks or ducks, please prepare to show your drivers license".

I didnt know Lubbock TX had an ordinance like that. Luckily I do live outside the city limits.

(And by the way, any Lubbockites who want to get chickens, IM me and we will go get them together!"

I bought some chicks today from the TSC in Burlington, NC. They didn't require anything other than payment from me. This is the first I have heard about giving name, address and phone number.

They did have some very nice chicks available today at this store. I bought 12 and they all seem very happy and healthy.

I remember that in NY there was a limit once upon a time because its Easter and people buy chicks, ducks, and bunnies for their kids. They usually get dumped after Easter though.
