Question about coop ventilation

Sigh. I was following the recommendations of the reputable local coop builder. He said 5-7 chickens for a 32 cubic square foot coop was fine. Can't return it now, so I'll just hope for the best and clean the roosting box tray daily which is pretty easy actually. Here's the link of the coops with photos/dimensions: hollandhenhouses.com for those who are curious.
I have the Welsum.
Hopefully, since the weather doesn't get colder than it is right now (35 degrees and dry), keeping the window and door open shouldn't cause too much of a draft. This is what most owners of my particular coop do in this area and I haven't heard of any problems. But I was shutting all but 2 inches of my window, so that would decrease ventilation a lot and may have caused my poor bird's death. Although, I don't think she died of a respiratory infection - no signs of that, but rather a sudden death more like coccy.

We have a similar coop, but we live in a pretty safe area and in the warm Southern California climate, so our doors stay open all the time. We have seven chickens, and we figured out real quick that our coop wasn't big enough as it is, so we made them an additional yard/run space, and they just use the coop for sleeping and laying. They also free range the back yard a bit.
