Question about craigslist

Good point... but to me that still sounds like a tire kicker, and not a serious buyer. In my oppinion if the buyer is serious they will read the ad no matter what, and that's the type of buyer I want to deal with. I have had no problems moving anything on craigslist without pics.

When I am seriously looking for something, I am definitely no tire kicker

But depending on what it is, I do want to see what it is I am potentially purchasing. Say for example, I needed a dog run to convert to a run for a new group of chickens. I would go to Craigslist and do a search for dog runs. Out of the list of results, 90% will have photos. I then narrow it down by location and price, but the photo is a huge part of my search, because I know what I am looking for and don't want to end up with something that isn't suitable. I almost always have tons of options that DO have photos, so why would I take the time to look at an ad that does NOT contain a photo and then have to contact the seller and ask them to email me photos and wait for them to respond, when I can see at a glance from 90% of the ads, exactly what it is I would be purchasing?

I second this GREATLY. I hate contacting some stranger just to ask some question that could be weeded out with a simple glance at a picture. Also when it says 'reply or txt for more pics' I wonder why (assuming they have the pics) didn't they just upload them? I have sold many many things and bought many things on Craigslist and I can honestly say. Lave a darn picture.

No photos, no call from me, and in fact, I rarely even open it to read it.

The old "email me for pics" is a total turnoff. Why should I waste time doing that? "Why didn't you just post the stupid pictures when you listed it?", I say to myself. I really like photos when considering buying something. I like quality pics on eBay as well. It is a turnoff to consider buying something, committing time and effort in going to consider something without quality photos.

Without the pics, I'm looking elsewhere.

While I won't say I never read an ad that doesn't have pictures, I'm more likely to give one that has them more consideration. From a posters viewpoint, a good picture or two will save you a lot of time dealing with those who don't need exactly what it is you've got. Remember the old Chinese saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

It helps to have an account since it's an easy way to renew and keep track of ads, especially if the original ad email is lost. So many people will not click on links in ads, and a lot of people ignore ads without pics...they do their searches with "images" selected so that they can completely filter out ads that have no pics. It's really easy to put a pic in ads.
