Question about egg defect

Today I found an egg that has me a little concerned. I’m attaching some pictures of it below. When I cracked it the yolk looked normal but the area of the defect seemed a little thinner than the rest of the shell. I just want to be sure that this isn’t a sign of something else going on with my hen.

Most of us have seen some pretty strange eggs over the years we've been keeping chickens. The rule is that it's of no big concern when you see this sort of thing once in a while. It's when it becomes a pattern with a single hen that you should suspect internal problems.
