Do you guys have the incubator already heated and ready to go or do you put the eggs in then turn the incubator on so they gradually heat up?

Heat up incubator and get temps stable then place eggs incubator. Leave set in incubator for 24 hours before turning.

I keep my eggs at room temperature.

My incubator is warmed up for several days before putting the egg's in the incubator and the egg's should have been sitting out so they are at room temperature and if the egg's were shipped allowed to sit for 12 hours so some of the air bubbles can settle ...... After you put the egg's in the incubator you might notice the temp will drop this is normal as the egg's are warming up so do not touch the temp settings and just allow the egg's to warm up and the temp to stabilize and then start your count down also depending on your incubator if you have a forced air and air plugs you might want to place them in the vent holes so the fresh air wont come in as the low oxygen will aid in the growth of your new chick and remove after a week so the air will come in ...........

Don't put them in and then turn it on! If you do you risk having the temp go too high without noticing and killing the embryos. As everyone else described always let it warm up first.

Oh ok, I thought that's what I was supposed to do. Mines been on for a day and the eggs should be here in a few more. Thanks for the info!

The risk out weight the cost. The eggs, since they are liquid inside, will warm up gradually after you put them in.
