Can you keep just Japanese quail hens, or do they need a male to be happy? I know button quail seem to do best with a male. I'm just wondering if you can keep larger quail like you can chickens: without a male, yet still get eggs.

I started off with a mix of 5females and a male but found out that he caused so much stress to the females. Fighting between the girls. Don't get me wrong he was a loving male and cared for his girls but after he was taken by a snake with 2 others I decided not to take in another male. Since then my 5 girls are the best they've ever been. So placid, love cuddles with me and they all get on so well. Mind you I spoil them so much.

My ? For the day I have two little giant still air incubaters one with auto turnner the other with out why is my hatch rate better with out the turnner ive tried this 2 times with turner about 45% hatch rate turning by hand 70%hatch rate any thought on this

There are a lot of variables involved in hatching. Conduct your experiment over a dozen or more hatches and see what you find.

What temperature and humidity settings are you running for incubation and for lockdown?

Thank you I will try that my temps an hum are text book right on so far the only thing different is one with auto the other with out
