Question about lump on dog (Another update 12/26) Maybe good ending!

If it's round, soft, and easy to move about it's most likely a fatty tumor.

I have a 14 year old Aussie and a 5 year old small Beagle and they both have lumps. Vet says they are just fatty tumors and like everyone else, as long as they don't get in the way of movement, just leave them be. I did have the first two that showed up on the Aussie removed, worried to death it was cancer, but they came back clean.

I hope this dog works out for your uncle and bless your hearts for adopting!!!

I've been calling my Lab mix lumpy since he now has 3 different lumps...they are fatty masses and nothing to worry about, but the 1st one sure gave me a scare! Good luck

ANY lump that is not moveable is cause for concern. Mast cell tumors can be extremely smooth and spherical and extremely malignant if not caught early. Most lumps that move with the skin are benign but should be aspirated just in case.

If that's all that was done - EXORBITANT!! I'd be looking for another veterinarian.

I dropped her back off at the rescue today and I miss her so much. She had such a wonderful weekend with us! They will hopefully know what is going on with her lump within the next 2 weeks or so. I hope everything works out and my uncle decides to adopt her. If my parents allowed, I would adopt her no matter the outcome of her surgery. Unfortunately, I still live at home so I must abide by their rules and their rules currently say no more inside animals

I will be sure to let you all know the results when we get them. I am currently crossing my fingers for good news!

My lab is a lumpy bumpy old guy. He will be 12 this February (Valentine's Day, actually). He has lumps all over... his face, his back, his belly. The vet hasn't been concerned with them because they are moveable, but there was one of them that was over his ribs that she was concerned about because it was larger and flatter and wasn't moveable. She wanted to do surgery because she was certain that it was more than just fatty tumor. When she performed the surgery she found that it was actually just a fatty tumor, but it was growing between the layers of muscle over his ribs. No cancer for him. (Phew!)

Hoping that all is well and the little one gets a new home soon!

Whew! I had two sebaceous cysts removed from ME and it wasn't $4,000! I agree with the other posters, sounds like a benign tumor, most likely sebaceous cyst or something similar. Please let us know what you find out.

Just a quick update!

Lucy went to have the lump removed yesterday and we are hoping to hear something about the results by tomorrow or Friday. If all goes well, my uncle should be able to pick her up Sunday. Keep her in your thoughts!
