Question about mite under microscope

Thank you. Yes! The lice are gone. They were straw colored bugs. Mites are gone on the body but some moved to the head.so that's the only place that has the mites now. The lice were bigger lighter bugs and they all died first. Strange I know. So I'm only dealing with some left on their crests now. Don't know why all the mites aren't dead like the lice .like I said it's my first time dealing with this stuff so I really don't know much about it. I'm assuming lice are easier to kill than mites.at least it was in this case. Thank you for the link.

Thank you Kathy. That is Exactly what I am going to do. They have had one treatment of the ivermectin already and are due for their second dose in two days. What I've done is take one part ivermectin to two parts water and mixed it. Then I take a art paint brush and paint on the solution on the back by the neck. In some research I was doing I read to put the ivermectin on the back, under the wings and above the vent. I'm likely going to try this with the next application. . I was and still am afraid to put it on the head. So what I've been doing with the head is taking a art paint brush and dipping it in the poultry dust and carefully dusting the head this way. I've also trimmed the crests a bit and removed some bad area feathers. I've dusted their house put clean bedding in and under the house put some dust as well. I have one bird almost completely clear but still working on the others. When I first started she had lice as well as mites so we are making progress thank God! I just can't belive she was shipped this way to me! I'm thinking the breeder HAD to know of her infestation. I just wish she would have mentioned it to me. I personally would not ship a infested bird to someone! It makes me so angry.she has really given me a mess to try and fix! As I mentioned this is my first bought with bugs and they can be quite difficult to completely rid. What's awful is with each treatment they get on me as well and I have bites now from them! I just think it was extremely inconsiderate for her to ship a bird in that condition. I'm going to be very happy when my girls are completely mite free!!

No I have the 5% solution. I watched a video in my research that showed me how to prepare the 5%. What I've read is one part solution to two parts water. Does that sound correct? Also in above post I mentioned placement. I read back under each wing and above vent. Does that sound right? I read as well to do two treatments EXACTLY 11 days apart so I'm doing that as well. Does this plan sound good? Hopefully it will be safe and effective. What do you think?

Read the label again, it's not 5%, it has 5mg per ml, 5% would have 50mg/ml. Don't feel bad, 'cause I also though it was 5% until just a few weeks ago when I looked closely at it.

1% = 10mg/ml
5% = 50mg/ml
10% = 100mg/ml

QUESTION FOR KATHY Thanks Kathy !! Your right! ! Thanks for bringing that to my attention! About how I'm treating does that sound effective to you as well? It's been amazingly effective for the body but it seemed they have marched up to the crest. However no eggs are in the crests so I'm thinking if I can get the crest then they might be eradicated. Finally. I have another question for you as well? Will it be safe to worm them after the ivermection treatment? If yes EXACTLY which safeguard do I get and what would be the dose for young ones going on 4 months old? I'm figuring they likely have worms as well although I've not seen any I'm doubting she took very good care of her birds if she'd send me a lice and mite infested bird it's likely to be wormey as well. If you can get back to me soon I would appreciate it be cause I'm wanting to order the safeguard online as soon as possible. Thank you kindly for your help. I have other wormer however I learned it does not kill round worms so I'm wanting to try safeguard.

I would not dilute it, I would follow the instruction on the label.

Many say to wait until using another wormer, but I have not seen anything published that says the two wormers can't be used together and I believe one can still buy a product called Tri-fen Plus that has both Fenbendazole and ivermectin in it.

Regarding the Safeguard... Doesn't matter if you buy the paste or liquid, you would use the same of either, but per dose the liquid is less expensive. There are three doses that I would use and I'll try to explain them to you later when I'm off this stupid iPad and on a real computer. Honestly, I think your best bet would be to spend a little more and get the Valbazen (albendazole).

FOR KATHY:Thank you Kathy. When I get paid I will purchase the valbazen then. Have you ever heard of a product called Verm-X? It's supposed to be a natural worming product used widely in the UK as I understand it. Some use it in between regular workings and some use for worming.supposedly they are so confident in their product (I read this in a article online) that they will give you a test kit for worms to prove the effectiveness of the product. I read a bit about it and it got me curious. One consumer did a test and used regular wormer one one half his flock and Verm-X on the other half and supposedly the Verm-X half fared better. It said something to the effect that because it's herbal it can't call itself a wormer but a supplement? Take a look at this link and tell me what you think about it if you would please.link is pasted in next tread.
