Question about rooster 'gameness'

Not stick Switch. Just had to do it that one time. I got lucky really did not want to kill him. He has given me many baby chicks off our hens. Got seven right now from him. Hatched off in early January Brrrr

Yes, if I use a switch/stick, it would only be for 'pecking' like they do to each other.....not decided on the method I would use.....but does the fact that he's gamefowl decide it for me?

Each Bird like us crazy humans is different.
What works for one may not work for other's.
It helped that I raised this Roo.
I have had game roo's that where not approachable.
Other's that thought they where Lap chicken's.

Not sure, roosterhavoc, he was a 'stray' that chose my yard about 3 months ago, but he was breeding age then (he brought two hens with him) so at least 6 months, right?

Well if you want to keep him I would do my best to ignore him. Let him be in charge. That’s what roosters are for. If he’s a cock take him off his roost at night and cut his spurs with a dremel so they’re short and blunt.

Stick/switch doesn’t matter more often than not that’s a great way to piss them off. Since he’s a gamecock he’ll most likely kick a lot harder than most roosters but do your best to ignore him even if he kicks at you. Just keep on walking.

Ok, so you recommend removing spurs and using the non-reaction method going forward. You don't think he'll remember he thought I was a rooster yesterday? Ha! I don't know how good their memories are! Thanks for your help! I hope I can work with them, they are such an interesting breed.

I don't really buy the idea that it is the humans fault. This is when, as AARt says, the romance hits the reality. And as you have found out, rooster attacks are more violent than many people think.

I vote reconsider the soup pot. If you like this breed, that is fine, just cause this one is a no go, does not mean that all roosters of this breed are this way. Contact some poultry clubs, and get a good rooster.

If you have small children, I strongly recommend letting this rooster go.
