Hum...so as I understand it here in California we cant keep California quail....you know the ones with the little top-knot. Not that I want to anyway, but as far as I know that is our only restriction. In the US folks mail birds and eggs all over the place, state to state. Im planning to get some eggs from the East Coast if it works out. I really want some small white ones to hatch myself. Im trying to get a person who advertises on San Francisco Craigs List to select out a couple doz of his smalles Texas A&M eggs for my hatching then pet pleasure. Since I dont eat the eggs or the meat I do prefer the smaller quail.Our quarantine system is insane coming in to just my state, I cant even import live birds from other states.
Allows king quail, stubble quail (Coturnix pectoralis) and brown quail (Coturnix ypsilophora) only.
I understand we need to protect our native species but the others are already here anyway.
I have received eggs in the post. Maybe I've broken the law without even knowingwhups.
