Question about your head of the flock?

Nali is our current head pullet, blue laced red wyandotte. We recently lost our head pullet Ramen (Buff Orpington) to a coyote so there's been jostling in the pecking order. Her contender is currently molting and seems to have dropped a peg or two since she started. We shall see how that turns out. All the girls are 8 months old.
My head of the flock is now my black laced red Wyandotte, Charlie. She is a very sweet girl but no one messes with her and she always eats treats first. Before yesterday, it was my big Lav Orp rooster Eevee. Charlie was his first love and she always got to eat before others. He was a good protector and he loved me like I was part of the flock and he respected me. I will miss him so much. Now the jostling begins anew, I have three other boys that are coming of age and one of my Lav Ameraucanas is attempting to assert himself even though he’s a smaller boy than his brother. However, Charlie and my other bigger hen Elinor will put him in his place and he backs down from them immediately. He is also my very favorite chicken and always visits me and sometimes comes inside to watch football with me and will sleep like a baby in my arms 😍

The oldest hen rules my flock. She is a 6 year old (Lost count), polish. Hatched her out from shipped eggs. She had a problem progressing in her hatch so I helped out a bit. Thought she would grow up to be a weak chicken but she is the ruler of the flock.

She has conquered several cockerels and acts like the head roo. She does the rooster dance and tid bits pieces of food for the other flock members, they all also follow her around. Used to take her to public places (schools, animal shows, ect) for the children to pet. Heres a pic of her: (also my pfp)

She’s gorgeous!!

She’s gorgeous!!
Thank you! She is the smallest chicken in my flock but she is the bravest and feistiest. Shes the one who alerts the flock but with her head puff she can’t watch for eagles.

Your chickes are so cute! I just love orpingtons and americaunas but its almost impossible to get them here. And they cost 1000 or more.

I only have bantam roosters so that's a no. I also have a production red and she's on top of the pecking order. If a rooster tries mounting her and he fails she pecks him😂 And some roosters still take interest in her...

Thank you! I just love the lavender colors and personalities of both breeds. I’ve considered a Polish chicken because they’re so unique and seem to have sassy personalities like you described and I love that. My white Silkie is super sassy and I think she’s so great. She is not afraid of any of the bigger chickens at ALL 😍

$1000 for an Ameraucana or Orpington? That’s crazy! I’m surprised they haven’t made their way out there more commonly! I think they are fantastic chicken breeds but that’s bananas 😲 I’m considering adding more Ameraucanas to my flock, both of them are boys and I sure would love a girl that lays pretty blue eggs! 😍

For Orpingtons ive only seen 4 sellers. One of them selling them for 100 but they are not the typical orpington you have there. I don’t think ive seen anyone selling americaunas here, really love their egg colours though.

She's gorgeous! Our smallest/feistiest is an Ancona. The others are all about twice her size but she doesn't care. She recently went broody and hatched a barnyard mix chick (from a neighbor egg) so now she is almost in her own little pecking order by herself. She won't tolerate anyone near her or the chick (9wks now) but has no interest in actually being part of pecking order dances.

That is a crazy amount for an orpington or americauna!!
