Question for the rubenesque of our female byc

I have an issue with having a hard time fitting my chest and shoulders. Does Torrid carry tops for those of us who are....uh...pushing the limits with regular sized tops? I am so tired of not being able to buy nice looking shirts. Mine isnt just boobage either, I have freakishly large shoulders due to weight lifting and my years as a public safety professional, and if I get something that will fit me most ways, I cant get it to fit around my arms. I dropped 40lbs on Topamax when I started having migraines, so I got back fairly small, but after 5 kids, I would be not doing anyone any favors if I tried to wear the little cutsey stuff they make for most folks. I am tired of wearing scrubby t-shirts, and sleeveless shirts, I want to look like a normal mom!

I prefer western style, but who are they kidding? Ropers and 20x seem to make shirts for girls with stick arms.

I saw a lot of different styles and sizes there so I'm sure they would have something. I have a large chest (40DDD) and I guess normal size shoulders, but I don't like anything tight around my arms and I was able to find shirts there. What I really liked about their clothes was the wide selection. I was able to find normal everyday clothes and fancy clothes but also stuff that shows off my cleavage without looking trashy! They even have bras in sizes most stores don't even carry or would have to be bought in a specialty shop. I didn't take the time to try on any of their pants, but they had a ton of those too and that is where I always have a problem - jeans!

I've not tried the full figured clothes from Coldwater Creek, but some of my friends have and they love it. Plus, they have petitie plus sizes which are hard to find. They are pricey, so check out the clearance stuff.

Coldwater Creek does run a bit smaller in their sizes than some of the other plus size manufacturers, but they have nice, fashionable clothing. My two faves used to be Sears and Fashion Bug, but Sears has changed their marketing focus (apparently to skinny career women and twiggy-teens) and we no longer have a FashionBug nearby. I decided to try ebay, and I'm SO glad I did!! I've had better success with finding NEW WITH TAGS or EUC (excellent used condition) clothing at reasonable and sometimes next- to- nothing cost. You do have to ask the right questions about measurements (one maker's 18 is another's 22-24, etc.), so ask EVERY measurement: sleeve length, back neck to hemline, bust, circumference at hipline or hemline, waist, waist to hem, inseam, type of fabric & care, etc. if it isn't already included in the description. I've gotten a few things that just didn't work for me, but I was able to either bless someone else with them or send them to the consignment store. I got 6 pcs. (2 prs. pants & 4 coordinating tops) NWT retail value $204 for $18.86 plus about $8 for shipping. Got a NWT formal dress retail $189 for $22 and paid $12 to have the sleeves shortened. Got a 3 pc. (tank, overblouse, and pants) formal chiffon outfit retail $175 for $35, and paid $20 to have pants & sleeves shortened -- very good bargains IMHO. Most merchants take money orders or Paypal (which I LOVE!), and some take personal checks but wait for them to clear b/f shipping the goods. Check f/b, ask the right questions, and happy hunting!

ETA: I love the "Rubenesque" description, btw! So much nicer than "plus sized" imo!

Anybody have a source for boots and galoshes that fit bigger calves? My feet are a size 8 but my calves are bigger than the scrawny little boots they seem to be making. I'd love a pair of galoshes or work boots. Actually I'd like a pair of cowboy boots but I can't rationalize the price.

Don't I know the feeling. What kind of bras do you wear? And where do you get them. I have to buy the Playtex front close ones at Belk, a local store and cra p they cost!!

Hey beautiful ladies, It looks like big is in finally. I wear a size 18 jean, up from a 16 last yr. but when you are a care giver to an 93 yr old women you really don't get much exercise. so I've put on a few extra pounds and at almost 53 it doesnt come off like it used to. Hold your head up proudly, we are beautiful creatures. I can find some pretty clothes at Cato's and K-Mart with a occasional something from WalMart.

I'm a 40 D and get Playtex 18 hr with the confort straps from WalMart for 18.00. That's the cheapeast place I've found to get a good bra.

Well 1) I do not shop at Wal-Mart and 2) they don't carry anything past a DD. At least not around here they don't.
Edited to make that not sound as smarta$$ed as it did when I reread it!!LOL
