How long are your turkens/naked necks living? Mine have died before the age of 4. I was just wondering if they tend to have a shorter life span than other breeds. I would love to get more because of their amazing personalities, but I hate losing them so soon.

I've never heard that they are short lived. What's their diet? What are they dying of?
I feed them either an all flock or a chick starter with oyster shell in a separate dish. The majority of my flock are older birds that are 6 and above.

One died of reproductive issues and the other I am unsure of. I only purchased 3 along with several other breeds and the turkens are the only one's I have had health problems with.

I’ve been wondering the same thing because 2 or 3 of mine have EYP. One died with a water belly related illness. 1 is again really ill with water belly and is the same one who had EYP.
I’m starting to think it’s because we live in Colorado at high altitude. Naked necks are supposed to be adapted to our area but I’m starting have my doubts. I love them too but will probably not get more from all the problems they’ve had.
