my niece wants to know

If we put edible glitter in the grit for the chickens, will we get sparkly eggs?

and I'm not prepared to waste my (comparatively) expensive cake decorating glitter on an experiment if there's no chance of it working.

anyone got an answer?

About as much of a chance as feeding it a small amount of Gold and having it lay a solid gold egg

Food has nothing to do with egg color-it can only effect the flavor of the egg...strong foods like fish garlic onions etc not a good idea.

You might get sparkly fertilizer for your garden. :p

But seriously, if that would work someone would already be rich off it.

I would think the most you could possibly hope for would be some sparkly fertilizer for your garden

But if it's edible glitter, it will probably break down before it even gets to that point.

Don't you just love the ideas kids come up with?!

Cute question....my niece would probably come up with something like that.....hmmm actually, she may just DO something like that and then complain when it does not work.....

Maybe you want to put the sprinkles on after the eggs is laid?? She may become the chickens biggest fan!!
