Question of the Day - Thursday, October 31st, 2024

I have dropped my current phone in the toilet twice in the last year. Yeah, I don't know what is up with me doing that once much less twice  Thankfully, it was a toilet at my house and not a public one. And, both times it was fine, and never stopped working. The outer case is tight.

I remember one time getting in the pool with my phone in a pocket of my swim trunks. I swam around for a good 30 minutes before I even realized it. That took a couple of days dry time. I didn't use rice. I just open it up and let it dry on its own. Amazed me that is was okay.

I've done that before too, but mine was ruined. And I lost my pictures

Depends on the phone. Some phones have waterproofing. I believe iPhone 7 and newer have it.

disgusting🤣
Hey! I keep my toilets clean 🧐

But, yeah, still disgusting lol

I don’t know. Swimming pool was even before 7. I think it was 5 days.
Either way, it took awhile but dried out.

Well, considering that if you let it dry long enough, it will dry and so long as no water residue or corrosion is left to short stuff out, you should be good.

About a year ago, if that long, I didn’t get the locks locked, apparently, to the main control compartment on a 100K$ HVAC DX condenser unit after working on it, and changing some programming. The door fell open after I left it. Then, it proceeded to rain very hard non stop all night long. Not good, not good even a tiny bit. It was dead. Just flashing error code and mostly gibberish on the main display. It was still raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock. I went home and got my daughter’s hair dryer, put up a tent over me and the control unit. I spent the next 2 hours or more drying every board and component in the control compartment with that hand held hair dryer. She eventually sprang back to life. I didn’t have a lot of faith that it would, but I had nothing to lose.

Now if I were to get in the pool with my phone, I would get out the hair dryer. They say the rice thing is not good for them and probably doesn’t work either.

Rice won't work because it can't get in the phone.
