Question on Canker & Fish Zole Treatment

Treatment for canker is Metronidazole, Fish Zole which you have. Dosage is one 250mg tablet per day for 5 days.
It is contageous and chickens remain carriers. Ensure all waterers and feeders are clean.
Copper sulfate at 1/8 teaspoon per gallon of water for 3 days in a row once a month will control it.

Hi! I know I'm pretty late to the thread but my chicken has cankerworm and I could only find Flagyl in 400mg, no 500 or 250... I want to know how I can split it to give it to her.
Any replies will be appreciated!

Canker is a protozoan organism not a worm. How much does your chicken weigh? Dosage is 50 mg per pound daily. If your tablet can be divided into quarter or fourths, then each quarter is equal to 100mg. That would be a dosage for a 2 pound chicken, and a half would be good for a 4 pound chicken. A whole tablet would be good for an 8 pound chicken. 3/4 tablet would be for a 6 pound chicken. Does that help? A kitchen scale can get an accurate weight, and holding her while weighing yourself, then subtracting your weight would get a rough weight.

Thank you so much!! I don't know why I assumed it was a worm lol. I will have to weigh her tomorrow as it's night where I am right now.
