Here is my silkie who as a chick was very blueish grey, then it started looking on it's wings like partridge, I had him today and noticed it's changed back to the blueish grey color...any clue?
Below is one of my odd colors, the head view, as I'm trying to figure out if it's a hen or roo. I have 3 others who's face area look the same, with the exception of my buff who's top seems a little more rounded or even where it's rounded. These guys are the same size as my laying hens so I estimate them to be 3-4 months old.
Here is the same bird as above, but a clear view of the comb.
I hatched lots of chicks with that coloration this year from my nonstandard color flock. I think it is just the result of mixing colors. It could the result of someone working on Lavenders. It definitely will not become Partridge throughout all feathers. I love mine - good thing since I have about 8 of them.
I have two of them and I think they are adorable and don't mind sense I'm not really, right now, worried about breeding to any specifications as I'm enjoying have the beautiful birds around.
They are very sweet with my son too who is 3, so the colors don't matter, I just like knowing things.
I had a white rooster who was the sweetest bird ever!
I would think this one is a rooster because all I've heard on the spikey top knot, but the comb is all but null. My laying hen has a bigger comb then this one! My black silkie rooster has like huge waddles and combs so that's what keeps throwing me off and he was about this age when he started to show. The mom of this bird has zip waddles and zip comb...ugh this is so hard and waiting to hear a crow or see an egg is a pain!
