question on colors in silkies?

head, hackles, tail, fluff lavender. chest, shoulder, saddle, back diluted buff. look on my site on the dilutes. top right corner bird is porcelain just that the camera doesn't pick to diluted buff. George mihaliks are darker. same exact pattern.

base is? sorry not to familiar w/ how you would refer to lacing on orps. red lacing on black base.

By base people usually mean e-allele. the red or silvr is usually called ground colour.

My bird is isobel partridge. i.e. lavender diluted gold concentric pencilling (partridge).

Lavender diluted buff columbian?

I mistakenly bought a lavender carrying the gene.

So you found this when you first bought the bird or when you used the bird for breeding?

buff columbian. she was a mistake in eggs I bought. the women doesn't breed lavender or at least when I bought the eggs. And frankly at that time I don't think she even did buff. Then starter hen has zero Pg indicators and was completely clear as a chick. down was that of lavender. no squirreling. though she did have that odd muted yellow-olive face skin beak and eyelids. as well as the down on the the and hackle. Its odd because she still had the dark skin just add the funny glow. I went to henk about doing another project of a different variety and in the middle of emails I showed him the hen and he said I could use her in the project (before she died) that when the whole columbian idea clicked. becuase my project birds where to have as solid as possible head and hackle like a buff lakenvelder

oh thanks on the e-alle. I don't live on the computer though I may learn a little more genetic terms. I've got the basics down . I should probably get in the habit of writing and spaeking that way:)

I don't do silkies, but I've found my Orp eb lavenders with melanisers have an orange front of face, pearl grey rest of down with slight orange cast. eb isobel partridge (lavender concentric pencilled) hatch with orange, orange & pearl grey dowl two somewhat orange dorsal stripes (as often indicating the presence of Pg).

I see. So they are basically the same genotype as what I call a Vorwerk but lavender diluted? Pretty.

Thanks for the photos Ahappychick ! I am about 20% less confused now, HA!

Does anyone have a photo of a lavender chick so I'll know how to select one if the parentage isn't known?

Sonoran, what coloration is the silkie shown as your avatar? It is beautiful!

yes.... Vorkwerk. Infact I just bought two for Henks white patterned project to do on silkies. I love the idea of a 24karat palomino silkie. Plue maybe it will teach me something and I can use all that good gene jargon:) . I though maybe I'd inject that into my buffs to then dilute them out. How does that sound?
You totally blew me away w/ your orps.

now Im working off the basics here, but doesn't eb have the swirl down of patridge? and when grown hens have salmon--breasts? or can they.
Is that what you were talking about?
