I have seen Ameraucanas for sale once at a feed store (they were locally bred, whereas the rest of the chicks being sold came from the big hatcheries), but they will cost noticeably more (I think they were priced at $18.99 vs an EE at $4.99) and they will list them by color (in this case they were Wheaten). That's another way to differentiate between the two.
