the end of September I will be getting about 20 meat birds. they will be day old chicks and my plan is to keep them outside in a coop but I don't have electric run to the coop. I know they are supposed to have a heat lamp, do you think they will be ok if they don't have a heat lamp and just extra bedding. temps will still be in the 60's.

They will absolutely need a heat lamp. Chicks don't cuddle under bedding to keep warm lol

They grow fast so the temperatures required change really fast , but while fluffy they can’t regulate their body temperatures and they will die .

Meat birds in September? I’ve never heard of doing that , here they don’t even sell them except in spring ...

Good luck

thanks guys. I guess I'll just have to run extension cords out to the coop.

can i still allow them to be in the run or should I just keep them inside the coop.

I feel silly asking these questions but this is my first time keeping them outside from day one
