I got 2 emu's from a local guy here. He didn't know the sex of them nor sure of the age. I've had them for almost four weeks. One of them I hear make a grunt/growl noise alot the other maybe 2x. I thought that the one might have been a female (with less noise), this one chases my female 'Quilla' and acts aggressive to her and my other female 'Sara Faye'. BUT today the one I thought might be a female tried to mount the one I was sure was a male(lots of grunting/growling noise). It didn't appear that anything happened the one on bottom jumped up. Do 2 males ever do this or does a female ever try to do the mounting? I think they are young 12-18 months.

I can handle them..ie pet and love on but not so sure they'd go for that!

well from what I have read it's pretty easy to do.. just may be a bit smelly
but at least you would know for sure one way or another...

of course there's also DNA testing

i've not tried it on older ones, but do on babies. Had a friend do it to one of the adults while I blocked them in a corner..... he was NOT thrilled.
