Questions about a January molt

Welcome to BYC. In my experience hens molting during the colder seasons regrow feathers very rapidly. She should be OK, but keep an eye on her. Next week is supposed to get bad once again.

some people actually make little sweaters for the birds if they have a bad molt in cold weather. They say the birds really like them.

My rooster lost all his feathers around his vent last spring and he never grew them back. He is still bright red and no new feathers. also no sores.
