In another thread, I just read that a brooder should have an area that's at least 20 degrees cooler than the hot spot, but I'm wondering if that's even possible with a metal stock tank. Have any of you that use one of these ranks as a brooder had any problem with keeping an adequate temperature difference in it?
My babies seem fine, but I'm curious about this.

We used a metal stock tank without issue. We kept the heat at one end and the food and water at the other.

Thanks. I have the heat on one end and the food and water in the middle. Everybody seems happy with that I think, they don't seem to spend extra time staying in either end.
