i’m getting my call duck (hopefully) in a few months... she will live inside with me and my family. she will get lots of attention and no she will not be an outdoor duck and i’m not getting another indoor duck so please no “advice” about that again.

1) how long would one bag (50 pounds) of Mazuri Waterfowl Feed last for just her. how much should we feed her per day?

2) she will get like 2-3 hours of forage a day but we want to supplement her diet. what do you recommend? so far we are thinking one fruit or vegetable a day + turmeric + normal feed?

3) ideas on a nighttime cage that’ll fit in a bedroom. we were gonna let her free roam the house at night but decided she will be un-diapered at night so she will have to go in the cage. wood shavings or hay?

4) brooder set up for before she is fully feathered?

5) what vets in michigan take ducks? so far we haven’t had to take our outdoor ducks to the vet but want to be prepared.

I think they eat about 10-20% of their body weight per day.

Did you read the article? Dont you want to provide the best possible life for your duck or do you care more about just having a pet duck regardless of its needs?

Makes me think of the Easter chicks. People don't care to learn what their needs are, they just want them as a momentary plaything. SMH
i have outdoor ducks. i know how to care for ducks. i know someone who has an indoor duck. it’s not gonna be lonely. please do not respond to my questions if you are just going to criticize me.

Ive tried a few times to keep an indoor duck, it was so fun having a little pal around all the time, but i got so sick of cleaning towels and cleaning messes

You carry it to the bath tub with so much care and somehow poop still gets on the floor 😅

And no one told me how dusty they are, they are very dusty. You dont notice when they are outside but inside and especialy during molting they are dust bags, i ran an air filter when a duck was inside

And they are noisy, especialy female call ducks. Early morning or late at night, if they decide they are bored they will call out

And the dampness, just damp all the time. Its like pouring water into a spinning fan blade. Ide come home and there would be wet feed on the ceiling and water droplets sprayed 5 feet around the duck area. But it was a large breed duck not a call duck

Anyway provide good care and everyone will respect your choices, Lots of great info and smart people on this forum so ask any question you can think of

I took him on a road trip and he kept trying to eat my pretzels 🤣
