ok so i am looking into creating a new breed of chicken for show purposes and i need to know how some of the feather genetics works.
1.So what would happen if you crossed a crested polish chicken with a non crested chicken?? is the crest made from a dominant, recessive or semi dominant gene?? would the babies have the crest or only a small crest??
    2. What would happen if i crossed a feather footed silkie with a non feather footed chicken?? would the babies have the feather feet or just small feathering?? and also is the silkie feather gene dominant or recessive?? what about the frizzle feather gene as well??
    3. The fancy tails of the Japanese chickens.... what happens if you cross them with a non fancy tailed chicken??
    4. What is the best way to go about refining the new breed of chickens posture?? the chicken that i am working of has as close as possible posture to what i want, which is a large rounded chest carried high of the ground and a head that sits about a third of the way back across the body so that it looks like it is taking a huge gulp of air, but it isn't perfect so how would i go about perfecting it??
    5. How can i perfect its tail?? i would like a tail that is spread and comes over the chickens back similar to that of a japanese bantam but only on more of an angle how would i go about doing this?? i know i would have to select the chickens with the steepest angle out of each generation but how do i measure it?? also the small leg gene of the japanese bantam.... what happens to that when you cross it with another species??

thanks and any other info would be great:D

wow, sounds like you need a really good genetics book (or the chicken calculator )
I have a book by sigrid someone which is really good at showing the feather coloring and which is dom/recess etc.
I also have a good genetics book by Grant Brereton "21st century poultry breeding"
