Questions about our new baby chicks that arrived today! =-)

If I was you, I'd get a clean piece of kitchen towel and dab gently at the little chick's wound. Then sniff the kitchen towel. If it's infected, you'll smell it straight away. If it's not infected, I'd say do nothing, just keep a close eye on the chick. Chances are it'll heal up fine on its own. If it's lively, eating, drinking etc, it sounds like it's most likely okay. But if it IS infected, the dab of iodine idea sounds good. I'm assuming it's okay to use iodine on chicks but I'm not sure, so might be a good idea to ask on here just to check.

Ah! I figured out a way to get around the pesky "you-can't-post-'cause-you-are-too-new" thing....

I posted the two pics of the whole tribe in my photobucket account. If you go to www.photobucket.com and in the search box, click the down arrow menu and choose 'user'....and type "CelticAngel_album" into the box, it should take you to my account. The two pics are the latest I downloaded so just find the recent activity and they are there. =-)

Can't wait to see your pics!!!!

Yoie - Wow....I wanted the Blue Cochin and the Salmon Faverolles! We do think alike....

I found a hatchery about an hour from my house. I might go there today and see if I can't pick up a few more babies. The website says that they have a few of the varieties I want. Buff Orpington, Golden and Silver Laced Wyandottes, Assorted Cochins, Blue Andalusians....

Yeah, we decided to get one of each because of my daughter's experience in 4-H for the first time. Plus, all of us liked different ones! I like having all different colors and types..a rainbow of chickens, so to speak!

I am going Monday to TSC to see what chicks they get in. Trying to resist bringing home to many

I have more chicks on the way in April, a Silver Cuckoo Marans, Delaware, and 2 Assorted Rare Breeds (just to keep me guessing

Please forgive me....for what I'm about to do. I'm totally not a spammer but I want to post pictures....=-(

Gypsy07- I did as you said and it didn't smell. I'll just wait it out and see what happens. =-)

So, I found this nice little store in Portland that had like 15 different varieties of chicks. I picked up three more, making my total 15.

Silver-Laced Wyandotte
Dorking
Delaware

I will be putting up pictures of each of them once we name them all.
