Questions for Setter4 - Cremation - You MUST be respectful!!!

Do you find that family members often are troubled when following the deceased's last wishes for cremation when they themselves are in disagreement with the process?

Thank you for asking that! I was wondering, too, and if there was anything you do to help them cope. My mom is wanting to be cremated, and it just kind of freaks me out, but I am willing to do what she wishes.

i think the same can be said for why someone would want their body to rot in a box underground? I think that is creepier than getting cremated for sure.

Yes and unfortunately sometimes the family does NOT do what the deceased wanted. Even if a funeral director knows that the deceased wanted cremated if the family members will not sign the release or if they refuse to allow it then it doesn't get done.
The basic reasoning is that dead people don't sue you the live ones will!
The closest you can come to being sure your wishes will be followed is to make your arrangements ahead of time, sign your own athorization for cremation and pre-pay everything.

Interesting topic...

My sister dated a guy who owned a crematorium - and for whatever reason, took courses in forensics, which in turn, somehow ended up with actually watching a cremation in person. She stated that the person that was getting cremated at that time (they also asked permission of the family - state law) wouldnt fit on the table/inside or something to that effect, so some parts had to be removed ?? (larger bones..) and done separately after the fact. She said the guy stated the larger bones do not burn down sometimes in the first run...? I dont know how much of that is true or not, but I guess since she was there and witnessed it...I'd have to say thats what occured on that day.

I often thought of cremation vs. burial, but I still think its going to hurt even though I'm not "there" and its just my body. Something about being burned just freaks me out for some reason - but I know its not going to hurt. Silly I know. Its such a respectful way its done of that I have no doubt, but again its a personal choice. My mom had both her shepards cremated and it still bothers me when I go over and she moves them around the house. I'm so afraid I'm going to spill them even though they're inside of their pet urns.

I'd be so upset if I did that needless to say.

Are urns locked and secured for people so that doesnt happen? I know my mom's arent for her dogs...they're just like boxes with bags inside.

(I hope nothing I said sounds disrespectful....)

I'd rather be cremated. There are no Pagan cemeteries around here. At least not that I'm aware of.
