I've heard some breeds tend to be more "talkative" than others...but what are some of the more "quiet" ones? I'm trying to decide between a few breeds to add to my urban flock...my local choices are RIR, red sex-link, speckled sussex and dominique...

I have four speckled sussex hens in Chicago, and I've only had them for a few days, but so far, they mostly make a noise like a dove--a really sweet cooing sound. The drive home took a few hours, which they spent in car carriers, and they clucked a lot then, but now, they only cluck intermittently.

Right now we have their coop in the garage, and we've been testing the noise level by opening the inside door, the window, and the overhead door, and standing outside, and you can't hear them!

My chickens arent loud unless they are laying an egg. My EE is the loudest along with my Black Austrolorps..sorry if my spelling is bad. My Isa Browns, orpingtons, and wyandottes are usually quiet during that time too.
